New Student Convocation

New Student Convocation is Oklahoma State University’s official welcome for all new students and marks the start of your academic journey. Convocation immediately follows the college spotlights and receptions held by each academic college. All students should attend the college spotlight and reception for the college in which they are enrolled for the fall or in which they are interested.  

Convocation is open to the public and admission is free. Parents, families, and others are welcome to attend the Convocation ceremony. No ticket or RSVP is required.

Meet the 2019 convocation speakers:


Chapman howard

Chapman Howard is a senior majoring in Mechanical Engineering and Mathematics. He plans to spend his next several years earning his Ph.D in Pure Mathematics, with the goal of eventually becoming a tenured professor at a major research institution. Chapman has also participated in undergraduate research, working with a professor to design 3D printed muscle from Liquid Crystal Elastomers. While at Oklahoma State University, Chapman has spent time in many organizations, including the Student Union Activities Board, President’s Leadership Council, Student Government association, and more. He is currently the Undergraduate Coordinator for the President’s Leadership Council, where he has the opportunity to help first-year students begin their leadership journey. 

Jacee Mccoy

Jacee McCoy is a senior majoring in Biochemistry with minors in Chemistry, Microbiology and Spanish. She plans to attend medical school next fall, to become a pediatric surgeon. While at Oklahoma State University, Jacee has conducted research in the fields of biochemistry and microbiology, as a College of Arts and Sciences Freshman Research Scholar and an Oklahoma Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation Scholar. She currently serves as the Vice-President of the College of Arts and Sciences Student Council as well as a College of Arts and Sciences Ambassador where she interacts with prospective students and their families at a variety of OSU events. Jacee has made the Dean’s List or the President’s List multiple semesters over the past three years. Additionally, she is an active member of Alpha Epsilon Delta- Pre-Health Honor Society, the National Society of Leadership and Success, the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and OSU’s Academic Integrity Panel.
