New Student Convocation

New Student Convocation is Oklahoma State University’s official welcome for all new students and marks the start of your academic journey. Convocation immediately follows the college spotlights and receptions held by each academic college. All students should attend the college spotlight and reception for the college in which they are enrolled for the fall or in which they are interested. Attire for all new students is business casual.
Convocation is open to the public and admission is free. Parents, families, and others are welcome to attend the Convocation ceremony. No ticket or RSVP is required.
Maria Guadalupe Nieto is a junior majoring in Graphic Design with a minor in Spanish. Her dream is to become a creative designer for the wonderful world of Disney or Pixar. This summer she interned in Barcelona, Spain as a graphic designer for LiterUp- a Spanish literature platform designed to inspire growth in the community through online literary courses, blogs, and games. While at Oklahoma State University, Maria has made Dean's Honor Roll and President's Honor Roll this past semester. Currently she is a proud member and President of her sorority, Kappa Delta Chi, as well as a member of Order of Omega and the Mortar Board Honor Society.
Mitchell Scott is a senior majoring in Nutritional Sciences with an option in Human Nutrition/Pre-medical Sciences. His ultimate academic goal is to attend medical school in Tulsa, OK at Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. As a doctor, aside from practicing in the rural U.S., he plans to travel abroad to developing nations around the world to offer aid through Global Brigades. He serves as the Education Coordinator for the Global Medical Brigade chapter at OSU. In this role, he creates a health education presentation for children in other countries. He works in the LASSO Center where after only three semesters was promoted to a Supplemental Instruction Senior Mentor. He was awarded the 2018 Oklahoma State University Student Employee of the Year Award through OSU Career Services for his work in the LASSO Center. Through this position he's able to provide leadership to over 100 SI Leaders so that they may be as effective as possible in helping students. Finally, Mitchell is an Ambassador for the College of Human Sciences. He mentors and makes connections with many new students through their First Year Seminar course. He wants students to succeed in all areas of life during their first semester in college.
